MCE DECLARES WAR AGAINST SANITATION July 27, 2011 BY PETER ATOGEWE WEDAM ISD-BOLGATANGA MUNICIPAL The Bolgatanga Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Edward Ayiriba Ayagle has resolved to tackle the issue of sanitation in the municipality with all the seriousness it deserves. At a press briefing held at Bolgatanga, Mr. Ayagle said sanitation remains one of his major priority concerns and would do everything humanly possible to keep municipality clean from filth. He also pledged to fight the menace of indiscriminate littering and open defecation to the latter. This, he said requires the support of all stakeholders in achieving the set objective. Mr. Ayagle was updating the media on completed projects executed by the assembly. The meeting was therefore a unique opportunity for him to familiarize himself with the media and brainstorm on issues affecting the people at the grassroots level. VEEP PROMISES A HUSTLE-FREE HAJJ

BY PETER ATOGEWE WEDAM July 16, 2011 ISD-BOLGATANGA MUNICIPAL The Vice President, John Dramani Mahama has assured the Muslim community that the 2011 Hajj pilgrimage will see an improvement and better outcome over that of last year. He said government has since 2009 taken practical steps to improve upon the organisation of the Hajj. “The few mistakes and errors that were experienced will be avoided this year to enable you have a smooth Hajj”, the Vice President stressed. The Veep gave this assurance in a keynote address at the 17th Annual Ramadan Conference attended by Muslims from all Islamic sects in Ghana. This year’s confab is being held in Bolgatanga for the second time in 11 years under the theme: “Religious and Ethnic Tolerance, Prerequisite for Peace and Development”. UE COMMUNICATION TEAM COMMENDS NDC July 15, 2011 BY PETER ATOGEWE WEDAM ISD - BOLGATANGA The Upper East Regional communication team of the National Democratic Congress [NDC] has issued a press statement congratulating the President, Professor John Evans Atta Mills for his landslide victory at the just ended congress of the party at Sunyani in the Brong Ahafo Region. The communication team also expressed its profound gratitude to the delegates for their show of maturity and good thinking by overwhelmingly endorsing the president to lead the NDC to victory in the 2012 general elections. The press release, signed by the Coordinator of the Communication team, Mr. Amos Awenzor further gave thanks to the Almighty God for granting the party a successful congress.
