NYEP GIVES START-UP KITS TO 56 TRAINED YOUTH October 12, 2011 BY PETER ATOGEWE WEDAM ISD - BOLGATANGA A total of 56 youth including female adolescents and women have been presented with sewing machines after undergoing a six-month training programme in Bolgatanga ran by the Asongtaba Cottage Industries in collaboration with the National Youth Employment Programme [NYEP]. Each beneficiary received a brand new sewing machine worth 150.oo Ghana Cedis. The beneficiaries were mainly taken through sewing and dressmaking techniques. The aim of the training programme which is a partnership between the NYEP and Asongtaba Cottage Industries is that, having been groomed by master craftsmen in the dressmaking industry, the grandaunts will in turn establish their own shops and also train other youth to create more jobs. The Bolgatanga Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Edward Ayiriba Ayagle who graced the occasion challenged the beneficiaries to drop any lazy attitudes towards their work.
