The Mamprusi East district chief executive, Honourable Adam Imoro has called on the district’s people to discard divisive politics saying his administration will develop all the communities irrespective of which one voted for or against the National Democratic Congress in last year’s general elections.
Honourable Imoro made the call when he held a meeting with Sakogu community members in the Northern region to learn at first hand the needs and expectations of the community from his administration.
He first called on the Dindani chief, Poa Naba Azah where the chief asked for the construction of a road to link his village to the main road that runs through Sakogu to the rest of the Northern region. The chief also requested the provision of a borehole pump that will supply potable water to his people.
Meanwhile the Sakogu chief, Kosarana Azabu appealed to Honourable Imoro to construct a police station for his community to ensure continuous peace and order among the people. The Kosarana also asked for the repair and extension of street lights that became defunct for the past four years to ward off negative acts during the night.
In response to their requests, the DCE said it is his aim to light up the whole district but called for patience while the necessary steps are taken. He pledged to ensure that potable water supply systems are extended to all parts of the district.
Honourable Imoro recalled that it was under former president Rawlings’ regime that electricity was extended to the district and promised that he will finish that assignment by hooking the remaining communities to the national grid.
He urged all people of voting age to register when the electoral commission opens its registers for the next registration exercise. He noted that it is only high voter registration that will call for the creation of new electoral areas for places like Sakogu.
The assembly man for Sakogu, Mr. Salifu Mantamia thanked the DCE for quickly moving in to roof the Sakogu junior high and L/A primary schools whose roofs were ripped off in a stormy rain that hit the district.
Honourable Imoro had earlier visited another village, Kolinvai where he commission a borehole pump constructed by the Catholic Relief Services at the cost of 8,500 dollars.
