ISD-BOLGATANGA MUNICIPAL
A 37-year old lawyer, Mr. Rockson Akugre has declared his intention to contest the primaries of the People’s National Convention [PNC] in the Bolgatanga Central Constituency of the Upper East region. He has been a loyal party man occupying some key positions including ward secretary for Tindonmolgo and regional organiser for the PNC from 2003 to 2006.
At a press conference in Bolgatanga to officially declare his intent, Lawyer Akugre remarked that the Bolgatanga Central Constituency is beset with a host of difficulties such as high poverty levels which manifest in people’s inability to access potable water, quality medical care while poor housing and sanitary conditions also stare the people in the face.
Having enumerated these problems, Lawyer Akugre said it is only a self spirited young learned man who is unafraid to tackle issues head on and with truth to find solutions. He then presented himself as the right candidate to lead the PNC in the 2012 elections who can match up to the challenges facing constituents.
Lawyer Akugre who works with the Centre for Public Interest Law, is also a practicing lawyer with the Law Alert Group in Accra. While welcoming other competitors to the race, he pledged to run his campaign on real issues on the ground devoid of personal attacks and insults adding that these do have a place in the history of the PNC.
