STAKEHOLDERS RECEIVE ORIENTATION FOR ROLL OUT OF PFJ II 11th JUNE, 2024
Stakeholders involved in the selection of beneficiary farmers, the distribution of farm inputs and the actual implementation of the Planting for Food and Jobs Phase Two (PFJ II) have been cautioned to eschew all forms of political tendencies in order for the intervention to make maximum impact and benefit Ghanaian farmers who are in real need of the subsidies for their trade.

The Kassena-Nankana West
District (DCE), Hon. Gerard Ataogye who gave the caution during a day’s
orientation meeting held in Paga for zonal coordinators and community agents under
the PFJ II, warned that he would not hesitate to cause the revocation of the
appointments of anyone found culpable in the implementation process. He
emphasized, “the process to recruit the district aggregators and you, the zonal
coordinators and others, was publicly advertised and not a politicized thing,
so put away your political lenses and let this juicy project of the Government
succeed”.
Hon. Ataogye recalled how some recalcitrant individuals frustrated the implementation of the phase one of the PFJ through smuggling of the heavily subsidized fertilizer by government among other illegal and underhand dealings and said some introspection had been done and corrective measures put in place to ensure the PFJ II does not encounter similar fate. This for instance is the introduction of the aggregator system.
He noted, “the Kassena-Nankana West is predominantly a farming district and we ought to make sure we do the right thing; the facility is for every farmer regardless of status and party affiliation. You don’t select and register, all the farmers must be captured”.
Aggregator for the PFJ II in charge of the Kassena-Nankana West District, Pastor Vasco Pwakichiga in his remarks said the orientation was very necessary as it was meant to educate the stakeholders on what is exactly required of them for the success of the PFJ II and the dos and the don’ts regarding each player in the scheme of things.
Pwakichiga revealed that he had some 15 zonal coordinators, 30 community agents and four warehouse coordinators to work with under the PFJ II in the district. He also disclosed that he had similar responsibility as an aggregator for districts in some other two regions namely; the Greater Accra and the central regions.
The PFJ II has a life span of five years.
