The District Director for the NCCE Mr. Robert Dampare in a brief stamen to commence the competition stated that the quiz was unique and not like just any other quiz in that, “this event is more than a test of knowledge – it is a celebration of our democracy, our constitution and the bright future that lies ahead for Ghana’s youth”. He added that main objective of the competition was to promote a deeper understanding of the 1992 Constitution among students in a fun and engaging way.
According to Mr. Dampare, Ghana’s Constitution has created room for civic education to be used as an important strategy and tool for creating awareness on the main values of democratic governance, instilling the spirit of patriotism and enhancing citizen’s participation in governance and decision making processes. He said when this is done well and effectively, the citizens become well-informed and responsible citizens who then actively contribute to nation-building.
The NCCE Director disclosed that his outfit has chosen the theme for 2025 operational year as; “Ghana’s Future: Our Collective Responsibility” explaining that this theme will be a constant reminder to all Ghanaians that, it is the collective duty of the citizens “to understand our rights, respect our laws and work together for a better Ghana”. The competition is nationwide in scope, bringing together selected basic schools in each district to compete in an intellectually stimulating environment and that by the end of it all, the NCCE expects an increase in knowledge and understanding of the 1992 Constitution, a greater interest in civic education amongst students and more students joining the Civic Education Clubs back their schools to keep learning and growing responsible citizens.
