ISSD STAKEHOLDERS ATTEND WORKSHOP IN PAGA 5th FEBRUARY, 2026

A day’s stakeholders’ refresher workshop on the Intersectoral Standard Operating  Procedure [ISSOP] to guide partner-state institutions/departments on the implementation of the UNICEF-sponsored programme; the Integrated Social Services Delivery [ISSD] Programme, has taken place this Thursday morning in Paga, capital of the Upper East Region’s Kassena-Nankana West District [KNWD].

Victoria Asuliwonnu, Dir. SW & CD

In her remarks on the overview for the workshop, the District Director for the Department of Social Welfare and Community Development, Madam Victoria Asuliwonnu disclosed that, the ISSD Programme has the primary objective of enhancing social services delivery through strengthening of intersectoral collaborations. She noted that the workshop  would provide all the partner departments/institutions the opportunity to hold relevant discussions regarding their peculiar roles and cross-sector functions as well as inputs expected of each of them for the successful and effective  implementation of the ISSD.

Madam Asuliwonnu, noted that it was based on her office’s mandate; including child welfare, working for the needs of society’s poor and vulnerable  among other sensitive functions that all made up  the reasons UNICEF identified and settled on the SW & CD as the lead-implementer for the ISSD. The programme according to her, started in 2021.

Michael Awini, Dep. DCD - KNWD
The partner institutions include the Information Services Department, the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice, the Ghana Health Service, Ghana Education Service, Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit of the Ghana Police Service and the National Commission for Civic Education among others.

Deputy District Coordinating Director for the KNWD, Mr. Michael Awini earlier in his remarks to open the workshop, charged the participants to be attentive so as to be able to grasp all the fine details of what the ISSD entails and what is expected of their various institutions. Mr. Awini himself, sat through the proceedings of the workshop and offered some helpful concluding remarks at the close of the day.
