The District Chief Executive (DCE) of the East Mamprusi district in the Northern region Honourable Adam Imoro has hinted that the assembly will rake in more internally generated funds under his administration.
The DCE who gave the hint in an interaction with the ISD at Gambaga noted from available records that there has been abysmal revenue mobilization in the past. He has therefore directed the district finance officer and his staff to register all businesses in the district.
Honourable Imoro explained that under the directive, all business entities operating in the district will be classified into small, medium and large. The assembly will then issue certification to the businesses and require them to pay specific operational taxes according to their classification.
He said the district assembly in collaboration with the Rural Enterprises Project will then periodically give training and orientation to owners of the registered businesses to help them manage their businesses effectively to enhance profits.
Touching on uncompleted projects left behind by the previous government, the DCE said in line with President Mills’ pledge to continue with the good programmes inherited, he will also do all he can to complete such projects that have a direct bearing on the well-being of the people under his care.
Hon. Imoro also disclosed that a tenancy agreement has been reached with a Langensi landlord to provide accommodation for police officers who will be posted to man the Langbensi police station.
He is also in consultation with the Nayiri and his elders to ensure that the Nalerigu market complex is opened for commercial activities. The said market , constructed in 2008 at the cost of 80,000 Ghana Cedis has since not been put to use owing to a number of reasons including traditional ones.
