TEERE APPLAUDS PREZ NANA ADDO FOR SCRAPPING DEPUTY REGIONAL MINISTERIAL PORTFOLIO 1st FEBRUARY, 2021

A frontline local governance-centered Non-Governmental Organisation [NGO] based in the Upper East Regional capital of Bolgatanga, TEERE has commended the President, H.E Nana Addo-Dankwa Akufo-Addo for his bold decision announced about a fortnight ago bringing to an end, the decades old political appointments portfolio of Deputy Regional Ministers. The commendation was contained in a Press Release signed by the Deputy Chief Executive Officer [CEO] of TEERE, Mr. Maxwell Banu and issued on Monday, 1 st February, 2021. Dep. BOLGA EAST G.E.S YET TO TAKE FULL DELIVERY OF NOSE MASKS ET ALL 27th JANUARY, 2021

  Some schools in the Bolgatanga East District of the Upper East Region are yet to receive the full complement of Personal Protective Equipment [PPEs] particularly, nose masks and liquid soap since schools formally re-opened a little over a week ago on Monday, 18 th January, 2021.  The GES Director, Mr. George Asira   This is resultant from transportation challenges and some form of ambiguity in the allocation procedures between the Bolgatanga Municipal Education Directorate and the Bolgatanga East District Education Directorate as the latter was curved out of the former a few years ago but yet seem not to be fully autonomous. The incumbent Member of Parliament [MP] for the Bongo Constituency in the Upper East Region, Hon. Edward Abambire Bawa, has retained the seat for yet another four-year term to represent the people of Bongo in Ghana’s Parliament. It will be indeed, his second term in the Ghanaian Legislature. Bongo DCE [1st] & Hon. Bawa [3rd] at Bongo Assembly Inauguration Jan,2020 Hon. Bawa came tops after gaining the highest number of valid votes cast beating some three other contestants. 699 SPECIAL VOTERS CAST BALLOT IN BONGO CONSTITUENCY 2ND DECEMBER, 2020

The 2020 general elections of Ghana have been set in motion with the successful conduct of the very first round of voting undertaken by the Electoral Commission [EC] of Ghana. This first-round ballot casting is usually referred to as the Special Voting. As a consequence, the Special Voting in the Bongo Constituency of the Upper East Region like elsewhere across Ghana, took place successfully in Bongo on Tuesday 1 st December, 2020 without any incident. The expected number of voters as per records at the District's Electoral Office totaled 739 but on the day of the poll, only 699 of the number turned up and voted. The implication is that, some 40 of the persons who had earlier submitted their details as special voters, failed to show up at the poll. The delivery of health care services, especially primary health care in the Kumbogsigo community, a suburb of the Bolgatanga East District in the Upper East Region, has received a boost following a donation of assorted medical equipment to health authorities in the area. The Medical Equipment as displayed at the durbar Chairman of the Kumbogsigo Development Association, Commissioner of Police C.O.P Mr. Patrick Atampubire Akologo made the donation on behalf of his colleagues over the weekend at the celebration of the annual Anongkua Festival by the chiefs and people of the Kumbogsigo community. The festival is a yearly traditional gathering at which, the chiefs and people celebrate in thanks-giving to their gods and ancestors for the bountiful harvest of the previous year. VEEP TERMINATES UPPER EAST CAMPAIGN AS J.J DIES 12th NOVEMBER, 2020

Vice President of the Republic of Ghana and the Running Mate to President Nana Addo of the New Patriotic Party [NPP] in the 2020 general elections, H.E Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia has terminated his campaigns in the Upper East Region following the demise of Ghana’s Ex-President, Jerry John Rawlings. Dr. Bawumia Speaking at the Bongo Durbar     Dr. Bawumia formally announced this termination at Zuarungu in the Bolgatanga East District of the region around 15:47 GMT at which time himself and his entourage had arrived there to address a durbar of the Chiefs and people of the area on the last leg of his three-day campaign tour of the region.
