RCBs CALL FOR REDUCTION IN CORPORATE TAX 6th NOVEMBER, 2025

Tabase Joseph Aseyire, Board Chairman The Government of Ghana and its agencies in the banking sector regulatory space have been called upon to take urgent steps to reduce the corporate tax rate and the sustainability levy of 25 percent and five (5) percent respectively as the two remain very high for Rural and Community Banks (RCBs) operating across the country.  Board Chairman of the NAARA RURAL BANK PLC, Rev. Father Tabase Joseph Aseyire made the call this Thursday in his report to the bank’s 34th Annual General Meeting (AGM) held in Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region. Mrs. Mary Awelana Addah, Executive Dir.  - TI-Ghana In bolstering the efforts of fighting corruption in Ghana, Transparency International Ghana (TI-Ghana) has held a one-day training in Paga, for 50 women drawn from several women’s groups across the Kassena-Nankana West District in the Upper East Region. The anti-corruption training which was themed “Voices of Change; Mobilizing Marginalized Groups Including Women to Challenge Corruption in Their communities” is under the auspices of TI-Ghana’s Inclusive Services Delivery Africa (ISDA) Project with funding support from Global Affairs Canada through the instrumentality of its mother-organization, Transparency International. TI-GHANA TRAINS MEDIA ON ANTI-CORRUPTION; ITS GENDER DIMENSIONS 5th NOVEMBER, 2025

Media practitioners and civil society organisations in the Upper East Region have been trained to enhance their understanding of corruption, its nature, causes and manifestations and its negative effects on society. The media is thus called upon to make available its various platforms and channels to facilitate the sharing of experiences and encounters with corruption and how people dealt with them. Transparency International Ghana (TI-Ghana) with funding from the European Union and the GIZ under the “Participation, Accountability and Integrity for a Resilient Democracy”, PAIReD Project, organised the one-day training in Bolgatanga, the regional capital. The District Chief Executive (DCE) for the Kassena-Nankana West District in the Upper East Region, Hon. Stephen Aeke Akurugo has commended the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the European Union for providing critical farming support services and equipment to farmers throughout the food production chain. This commendation was given in Paga when the DCE joined the Authorities of the Department of Agriculture to present 12 grain threshers with accompanying spare parts, repair tool kits and other accessories to 12 farmer-groups from selected communities across the district. NCCE EDUCATES WOMEN ON RULE OF LAW & ANTICORRUPTION FIGHT 15th OCTOBER, 2025

Over 50 women from various women’s groups, religious bodies, Persons Living with Disabilities and some minority tribes in the Kassena-Nankana West District of the Upper East Region, have been educated on the principles of rule of law and Ghana’s anti-corruption campaign. The one-day education forum held in Paga, the district’s capital, was on the theme “Civic Engagements on the Rule of Law and the Fight Against corruption”. The National Commission for Civic Education [NCCE] is the main implementing agency for these targeted educational campaigns for women’s groups in 60 districts across the 16 regions of Ghana. This activity is an initiative under the mother-project known as the Participation, Accountability and Integrity for a Resilient Democracy [PAIReD] which is commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development [BMZ]. Stephen Aeke Akurugo led a team of staff from the Assembly and other departmental staff in the district to join Kandiga community members, personnel of the security agencies and some political party executives to undertake the monthly clean-up exercise in and around the main Kandiga market. The exercise is in tandem with the country’s National Sanitation Day (NSD) which comes off every first Saturday of each month. The Kandiga episode of the clean-up exercise marked the second in the district as the initial one was held on 20 th September, 2025 in Paga, the district’s capital. 321 PWDs RECEIVE OVER 300,000 CEDIS GOV’T SUPPORT 11th SEPT., 2025

Stephen Aeke Akurugo has presented cheques and bursaries to some 321 Persons Living with Disabilities [PWDs] who had undergone a rigorous assessment by the district’s Disability Fund Management Committee. The cheques amounted to a total of 301,900 Ghana Cedis and the funds for the disbursement, came from the Disability Fund, a 3% component of the District Assemblies’ Common Fund. In his brief remarks at the disbursement ceremony held this Thursday morning at the Assembly’s conference hall, Hon. Akurugo said Government recognizes the challenges faced by PWDs and described the disbursement as not just any financial support but “a reaffirmation of our collective commitment to inclusivity, empowerment and dignity for all members of the disability community in our country”.
