NAYIRI PAYS HISTORIC VISIT TO THE BMC SEPTEMBER 19, 2008

The overlord of the Mamprugu traditional area, Nayiri Naa Bohagu Mahami Abudulai Sheriga II has paid a historic familiarization visit to the Baptist Medical Centre, BMC at Nalerigu in the East Mamprusi district, Northern region.

It was the first official visit of the Nayiri to the BMC since his enskinment some four years ago. The visit gave the Nayiri the opportunity to learn at first hand the activities and operations of the medical centre.

Naa Bohagu in a meeting with top management of the BMC on his arrival said it had been his wish over the past few years to visit the hospital and was happy that he finally did. He told management that it is the responsibility of God to give lives whilst that of the BMC is to save these lives. He commended management saying the hospital has done remarkably well in its responsibility in saving lives.

The Medical Superintendent of the BMC, Dr. George Faile Junior III on behalf of management and staff welcomed the Nayiri and his elders and sub-chiefs. He said the BMC was honoured to have the King and his chiefs as its guest especially at a time when the BMC was celebrating its golden jubilee.

The Nayiri who is also the president of the Northern regional house of chiefs later toured the maternity, female, male surgical and medical wards and the pediatrics ward where he donated an amount of GH ¢100.00 to supplement the food needs of children on admission.

He made a similar donation of smoked fish valued at about GH ¢150.00 to the nutrition unit of the BMC. The King also interacted with staff of the hospital during his rounds and wished patients on admission speedy recovery.

Nayiri Naa Bohagu ended his visit at the public health department of the BMC where he and his entourage were conducted round by Mrs. Florence Baba, head of the department.
