The M&E Manager of TEERE, Mr. Maxwell Babilo Banu who called in the Information Services Department to witness the offloading of the items at Bongo disclosed that, some three 40 – footer containers and two 20 – footer containers brought in the package from the ports in Tema. He revealed that the items included 59 electronic beds with their accompanying side cabinets, ultra sound devices, wheel chairs, food trays, other chairs  and tables for office use and about 20,000   pieces of baby lotions among others.

According to Mr. Banu, the initiative and proposal that secured the donation from the German NGO known as the Inter-NATIONAL CHILDREN Help e.V., all resulted from the TEERE local Governance Forum [TLGF] which started in the Bongo District in 2016 and which later, spread to Pelungu in the Nabdam District and a regional event in Bolgatanga, capital of the Upper East region. He revealed that, officials from the German NGO certify that, their package to the Bongo District Hospital through TEERE, was the biggest ever single donation of medical wares and supplies it had done in years.

The coming in of these medical consumables and equipment falls in line the Government's resolve to  adequately equip and retool some of the country's hospitals to enable meet the health needs of the citizenry in all parts of Ghana.

Having safely offloaded and secured a safe-house for the items, officials of TEERE say, they were now to meet management of the Bongo hospital and other vital stakeholders to fix a date for the formal handing of the items.

A Look At The Chairs

TEERE is a national Non-Governmental Organisation with its headquarters in Bolgatanga. Its quest is to help deepen Ghana’s decentralisation processes through its flagship progamme, the TEERE Local Governance Forum and other engagement platforms that aim to bring the governed and the governor vis-a-vis for productive deliberations.

TEERE is also in the forefront of building a strong force of like-minded Civil Society Organisations [CSOs] in the Upper East Region, for regular interface meetings to share ideas in order to strengthen the impact of their interventions as well as, create a more fortified base to enable these CSOs attract the needed funding from multi-national funding agencies.
