DND KEEPS REIGNING 1st January, 2019
Navrongo-based music duo, DND has
successfully held its planned 2018 musical concert at the Phena Guest House in
Navrongo, capital of the Kassena-Nankana Municipality. The show came off on 29th
December, 2018 and formed part of efforts by the DND group to touch base with
their fans and to regularly interface with these numerous fans across
communities in the area.
Since the release of the group’s
maiden album in 2008 titled Di Ki Wέ Lei, an all-gospel album with one
Hiplife track, the two brothers –
Rap Naygar and Aloozo have never stopped working. They went on to drop hit
single after hit single much to the admiration of their ever-demanding loyal
fans and the general public; they released Testimony featuring G. Kliff [a
Tamale- Based Rapper and Song Writer], they dropped Shake It Up and featured
Upper West’s top act, Game Boy on it and they also out-doored Bazugle Dance
featuring mighty Yaa Pono. Meanwhile they also did a collabo with Macassio on
their hit single named Keep Raining.
It is however worthy to note that,
though there was another event in N-Town [Navrongo] on the same day with the
DND musical concert, the attendance at the event was great and indeed,
impressive due to DND’s huge public following and their crowd-pulling lyrical
punchlines. The young and the old, women and men, co-musicians among other
patrons from Paga, Sandema and other neighbouring environs, were all there to
have a live feel of the DND group. I must say Rap Naygar and Aloozo lived up to
the billing and majority of the patrons, if not all, were gratified at the end
of it all.
What fascinated me the more at this
music concert was the presence of elderly people who would not normally attend
such events targeted mostly at the youth. Out of curiosity, I interacted with
this old-lady, I can estimate to be over 60 years who gave me her name as Mma
Asuliwonnu and I asked what brought her to the event. Her reply; “I have been
listening to the songs of this children on Nabiina FM and at programmes
sometimes, so when my children told me of their concert, I decided to attend to
see them for myself”.
MUSICIANS ON THE NIGHT
The brotherly and sisterly love
from other N-Town musicians was just woooooow! Sister Monica opened the
performance with Jopasco coming on right after her. Then came D. Fresh, the
talented Williyoung and Face 2 – the Chiana Boy among many others. And ooh! there
was a small fall by our brother Jopasco whom out of joy from the responses from
the crowds, went off the edge of the stage but quickly rose to his feet and
gave a beautiful delivery regardless.
AND G. KLIFF CAME IN FROM TAMALE
One cannot list the top five artistes
in the Northern Region and yet leave out G. Kliff and this was the heavy wait
DND managed to pull from Tamale to grace the show. The choice of this
well-known rapper especially in the Northern parts of Ghana, really paid off as
his stage presence and showmanship was incomparable and the tracks he assembled
for his appearance at the event, just 100 percent on point.
G Kliff did his usual thing on
stage with his hits including World Champion, Too Late and a host of others as
well as his very latest inspirational and motivational hit, Kowomang [Its
Well].
However, the crowds got charged up
when DND eventually mounted the stage and took charge as the host. The fans
went crazy and wouldn’t allow the duo to stop performing while many others
couldn’t hold back but had to jump on stage to sing with the brothers and as
well, take pictures and videos with them.
All in all, it was a great show in
year 2018 for the DND music group and also, for their fans and the people in
and around Navrongo.
DND pledged to put up an even
bigger show in 2019 while they anticipate to rotate their musical concert from
place to place as time flies by.
Meanwhile, DND also travelled to
the Burkina Faso town of Pὁ on 1st
January, 2019 where they delivered a superb performance alongside Blac W at an
album launch cum music concert by Pὁ’s biggest and top musician,
Joodal. The love from the Burkinabes for DND was wonderful and astonishing
because according to the duo, they never knew there was so much love for their
music in a francophone country like Burkina Faso.
