MY CAMPAIGN IS PREMISED ON ISSUES RELEVANT TO THE PEOPLE – HON. TANGOBA 20th February, 2020
The Upper East Regional Minister, Hon. Tangoba
Abayage who is rated by many political watchers as a foremost contender for the
Navrongo Central Constituency seat on the ticket of the ruling New Patriotic
Party [NPP], presented her nomination forms Thursday afternoon to the party’s
constituency office.
Hon. Tangoba pledged to the party’s excited constituency
executives and a thick crowd of jubilant party supporters from across the
constituency that, her campaign message was one based on relevant issues that
mattered to the Constituency’s people and that, there was no time to burn on
any personal attacks. She emphasised that “we are going to lead an issue-based,
policy-based, manifesto-based as well as, a pragmatic and bold decisive
campaign that will be unmatched”. She
gave her word that, she had given straight instructions to all her campaign
handlers not to indulge in “politics of insults” and that anyone who
contravenes that, will be expunged from her team.
Meanwhile, the jubilant party executives and
supporters, including some from the regional capital and some four Municipal
and District Chief Executives, accompanied the regional minister on a walk, from
the Kassena-Nankana Municipal Assembly premises to the Navro Pio’s palace where
Madam Tangoba paid homage to him and asked for his blessings. While marching on
the principal streets of Navrongo, she and her team attracted lots of cheers
from residents of the township.
The potential parliamentary candidate who was also Ghana’s
ex-ambassador to Italy, disclosed that she had visited all 35 electoral areas
of the constituency and touched base with delegates and all polling station
executives of the NPP and continues to consult them. She revealed that, one
clear thing kept ringing in those conversations; that is the need to change the
face of the NPP in the 2020 general elections. She urged her fellow party
members to give her their unflinching support and counsel as she was poised to
unite the bigger NPP family for a purpose – winning the parliamentary seat and
further increasing president Nana Addo’s vote margins in the constituency from
the 2016 elections.

According to Hon. Tangoba, the NPP administration
had brought phenomenal development to the Upper East Region and will continue
same if granted another term saying, the opposition National Democratic Congrats
[NDC] could not match such a record.
Kassena-Nankana Municipal Chief Executive, Hon.
William Aduum who formally introduced Hon. Tangoba and her mission to the
revered Navro Pio, described her as a respectful person and a strong lobbyist
who enjoyed a great amount of goodwill within the NPP and who was well placed
to derive enormous development to the Navrongo area.

My checks with Constituency’s Elections Committee
Chairman Mr. Richard Kudamo at the party’s office indicated that, there was no
record of any obstructions put in the way of any party person in good standing
who wanted to pick forms. He advised against the culture of insults and
personal attacks among candidates as such tendencies will only wreck the party
and that rather, they should focus on important issues in the constituency like
provisions of good roads and potable water among others.
On 25th April 2020, some 592 delegates of
the NPP from across the Navrongo Central Constituency will be voting to elect a
parliamentary candidate for the party.
