BOLGATANGA ASSEMBLY HANDS OVER CHPS COMPOUNDS January 26, 2012 BY PETER ATOGEWE WEDAM ISD – BOLGATANGA Two Community Health Planning and Services [CHPS] compounds have been completed and handed over to authorities of the Bolgatanga Municipal Health directorate in the Upper East region. The CHPS compounds situated at Yikene and Dorongo were constructed at the cost of 64 thousand Ghana Cedis and 60 thousand Ghana Cedis respectively. Each of the facilities is composed of a three bedroom nurses’ quarters, an office and a store. But while the Dorongo CHPS compound is hooked to the national electricity grid and has a borehole, the Yikene CHPS compound has no source of water and is yet to be connected to the national grid. The Bolgatanga Municipal Chief Executive, Mr. Edward Ayiriba Ayagle in a speech delivered on his behalf, said government is committed to ensuring that every community has access to a health facility. rLG, GOVERNMENT PRESENT 360 LAPTOPS TO JHS IN UPPER EAST January 25, 2012 BY PETER ATOGEWE WEDAM ISD – BOLGATANGA The rLG Communications Limited, a Ghanaian-owned mobile phones and laptops manufacturing company has presented a total of 360 brand new laptops to 15 Junior High Schools in the Bolgatanga Municipality. The schools each received 24 laptops. The St. Johns, Awogeya, Soe RC and the Anglican Junior high schools were among the recipients. The Head of Corporate Affairs of rLG Communications Mr. Sam Kwesi Fletcher, who presented the laptops to the schools disclosed that his outfit and the government had a public-private partnership agreement to supply 60 thousand computers to basic schools throughout the country. He said the presentation marks the beginning of the distribution of more laptops to all junior high schools in the Upper East region which will continue in the coming weeks to cover remaining schools.
