SHEA BUTTER FACTORY EARMARKED FOR BONGO DISTRICT UNDER 1D1F 28th MAY, 2019

The Bongo District in the Upper East Region is earmarked to benefit from the Government’s flagship business intervention policy, One-District One Factory [1D1F]. The 1D1F is a deliberate policy by the Nana Addo-led administration to trigger rapid growth of the local economy and also, create numerous employment avenues for Ghana’s populace, especially the youth. Bongo DCE, Hon. Peter A. Ayamga at the meeting District Chief Executive [DCE] for Bongo, Hon. Peter Ayinbisa Ayamga made this known in his sessional address at the First Ordinary Meeting of the Fourth Session of the Seventh Bongo District Assembly. He disclosed that he had held discussions with consultants a few days ago at the Assembly, regarding the type of factory that was suitable for the district. He reported with joy to the General Assembly that, “after lengthy deliberations, we settled on a shea butter factory and upon its successful completion, 50 graduates from within the District would be gainfully employed”.

The Upper East Regional Minister Paulina Patience Abayage, has hit back at the opposition National Democratic Congress [NDC] over allegations of the use of public funds to purchase some five bags of sugar for donation to the party in support of this year's Ramadan fast. UE Regional Minister, Hon. Paulina P. Abayage Having learnt of this obvious falsehood, the Minister immediately responded to the mischief that was building up describing the action by  the NDC Regional Executives as unfortunate. She added that, she she was a very capable woman and that, she had the financial muscle to buy those bags of sugar and thus, did not need to use state resources for such a venture. The background to the issue is that, Madam Abayage had presented some five bags of sugar through the Upper East Regional Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party to the opposition NDC. A three-day capacity building training workshop for members of various Social Audit Committees [SACs] selected from the five regions of the North, is underway in the Upper East Regional capital, Bolgatanga. TEERE, a Bolgatanga-based local-governance-oriented Non-Governmental Organisation, is the organizer of the training with funding from the German Government through GIZ and additional support from the USAID, the German Corporation, Global Affairs Canada and Ghana’s Ministry for Local Government and Rural Development. UPPER EAST REGIONAL HOUSE OF CHIEFS GIVEN A FACELIFT 6th May, 2019

The Upper East Regional Minister, Hon. Paulina Patience Abayage, has handed over some completed renovation works at portions of the Upper East Regional House of Chiefs [RHC], to the House for its use. The works were undertaken in the main meeting auditorium of the House. Hon. Paulina A. Ghanaian workers and for that matter, pensioners will from year 2020, begin to benefit pensions using the Annuity Factor. The Annuity Factor is a method used to determine how much money can be withdrawn early from retirement accounts before incurring penalties. The calculation primarily uses life-expectancy data and is applied to annuities and individual retirement accounts. Upper East Regional Minister, Hon. Paulina Patience Abayage announced this in her address at the regional celebration of the 2019 edition of Workers Day held in Bolgatanga under the theme, “Sustainable Pensions for all: The Role of Social Partners”. The event which is international in character, is also widely known as May Day and is celebrated annually on 1 st May to recognise the valuable contributions of workers both in the formal and informal sectors, to the development of their nations.
