BONGO DCE LOSES OUT ON MP-BID TO NDC'S BAWA

The incumbent Member of Parliament [MP] for the Bongo Constituency in the Upper East Region, Hon. Edward Abambire Bawa, has retained the seat for yet another four-year term to represent the people of Bongo in Ghana’s Parliament. It will be indeed, his second term in the Ghanaian Legislature. Bongo DCE [1st] & Hon. Bawa [3rd] at Bongo Assembly Inauguration Jan,2020 Hon. Bawa came tops after gaining the highest number of valid votes cast beating some three other contestants. He polled 26,268 votes representing 58.50 per cent of valid votes cast whilst his closest contender, Bongo District Chief   Executive [DCE], Hon. Peter Ayinbisa Ayamga, who was the New Patriotic Party’s [NPP] Parliamentary Candidate with 17,276 votes, indicating a percentage of 38.48. The other candidates were Hon. George A. 699 SPECIAL VOTERS CAST BALLOT IN BONGO CONSTITUENCY 2ND DECEMBER, 2020

The 2020 general elections of Ghana have been set in motion with the successful conduct of the very first round of voting undertaken by the Electoral Commission [EC] of Ghana. This first-round ballot casting is usually referred to as the Special Voting. As a consequence, the Special Voting in the Bongo Constituency of the Upper East Region like elsewhere across Ghana, took place successfully in Bongo on Tuesday 1 st December, 2020 without any incident. The expected number of voters as per records at the District's Electoral Office totaled 739 but on the day of the poll, only 699 of the number turned up and voted. The implication is that, some 40 of the persons who had earlier submitted their details as special voters, failed to show up at the poll.
