NATCCU DOING WELL DESPITE FINANCIAL CRISIS - BOARD CHAIRMAN 19th January, 2019

The Navrongo Teachers’ Cooperative Credit Union [NATCCU], has held its 19 th Annual General Meeting [AGM] in Navrongo, capital of the Kassena-Nankana Municipality in the Upper East. The event which came off over the weekend was under the theme, “Credit Union, Reliable Place to Sustain Your Future”. The most-immediate previous AGM of the Union was held on February 17, 2018.  Board Chairman, Mr. Isaac Amuriyaga presenting his report Board Chairman of the NATCCU, Mr. Isaac D. Amuriyaga who presented the Board of Directors’ Report covering the period 1 st July, 2017 to 30 th June, 2018, announced that, the Union managed to pay interest on members’ savings to the tune of 285,828.80 Ghana Cedis [GH₵] despite the adverse financial sector crisis that caused some big banking institutions to fizzle out of the system. REGIONAL MINISTER SOLICITS SUPPORT FROM CHIEFS 15th January, 2019

Upper East Regional Minister, Hon. Paulina Patience Abayage has called for the support and wise counsel of the Paramount Chief of the Bongo Traditional Area, Naba Baba Salifu Lemyaarum and his colleague paramount chiefs across the region, to enable her administer the region more effectively and holistically. The Minister made the call when she paid a courtesy call on the Bo-Naba this Tuesday to formally introduce herself to the chief, his divisional chiefs, elders and subjects. It will be recalled that since Hon. Abayage assumed office on November 8, 2018, she shortly thereafter undertook series of these courtesy calls that have already taken her and her entourage to the palaces of the Naga Naba, Navro Pio, Tongo Rana, Paga Pio, Nakong Pe, and Katiu Pe among others. RURAL BANKS ARE IMPORTANT DEV’T. AGENTS – REGIONAL MINISTER 5th January, 2019

The Upper East Regional Minister Hon. Paulina Patience Abayage, has commended rural banks in Ghana stressing that, the concept of rural and community banks has over the decades bridged the gap that hitherto existed between rural and urban dwellers regarding financial transactions. The Minister gave the commendation in her keynote address at the 28 th Annual General Meeting of the Naara Rural Bank [NRB] held over the weekend in Navrongo, capital of the Kassena-Nankana Municipality. She also observed that, this class of banks had the responsibility of mobilising savings in rural communities, investing these savings for good returns and to use the funds to provide credit through loans to micro and small-scale enterprises in their operational areas. DND KEEPS REIGNING 1st January, 2019

Navrongo-based music duo, DND has successfully held its planned 2018 musical concert at the Phena Guest House in Navrongo, capital of the Kassena-Nankana Municipality. The show came off on 29 th December, 2018 and formed part of efforts by the DND group to touch base with their fans and to regularly interface with these numerous fans across communities in the area. Since the release of the group’s maiden album in 2008 titled Di Ki W έ Lei, an all-gospel album with one Hiplife track, the two brothers – Rap Naygar and Aloozo have never stopped working.
