The District Chief Executive (DCE) for the Kassena-Nankana West District in the Upper East Region, Hon. Stephen Aeke Akurugo has commended the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the European Union for providing critical farming support services and equipment to farmers throughout the food production chain. This commendation was given in Paga when the DCE joined the Authorities of the Department of Agriculture to present 12 grain threshers with accompanying spare parts, repair tool kits and other accessories to 12 farmer-groups from selected communities across the district. Over 50 women from various women’s groups, religious bodies, Persons Living with Disabilities and some minority tribes in the Kassena-Nankana West District of the Upper East Region, have been educated on the principles of rule of law and Ghana’s anti-corruption campaign. The one-day education forum held in Paga, the district’s capital, was on the theme “Civic Engagements on the Rule of Law and the Fight Against corruption”. The National Commission for Civic Education [NCCE] is the main implementing agency for these targeted educational campaigns for women’s groups in 60 districts across the 16 regions of Ghana. Stephen Aeke Akurugo led a team of staff from the Assembly and other departmental staff in the district to join Kandiga community members, personnel of the security agencies and some political party executives to undertake the monthly clean-up exercise in and around the main Kandiga market. The exercise is in tandem with the country’s National Sanitation Day (NSD) which comes off every first Saturday of each month. The Kandiga episode of the clean-up exercise marked the second in the district as the initial one was held on 20 th September, 2025 in Paga, the district’s capital.
