A former public relations officer to the Northern Regional Co-ordinating Council, Mr. Ibrahim Abdulai Alex has been appointed the new Regional Information officer (RIO) for the Northern Region.

Mr. Alex who assumed office on August 03, 2009 has rendered dedicated service to the Information Services Department (ISD) for the past 37 years within which he got promoted from one portfolio to another through hard work and desire to learn more.
The new RIO takes over from Mr. Akamboe Ayeribasia who has since withdrawn his services from the ISD.

In an interview with the Gambaga Office of the ISD, Mr. Alex said he has been nursing a passion to become a journalist and this passion pushed him to grab an opportunity to work as a Cinema Commentator with the ISD in 1972.

In his early working life, he stationed at the Bolgatanga Municipal assembly, Damongo and Gonja Districts where he worked in various capacities.

Mr. Ibrahim Abdulai Alex later gained admission to the Ghana Institute of Journalism where he trained as a journalist and graduated around 1975. He got posted to Damongo as a District Information Officer upon returning to work after completion.

Showing prospects in his line of duty, he got selected by his employers and travelled to Sophia in Bulgaria where he studied Communication and Information Techniques. He returned after this course abroad to become the Operations Manager of the Northern Regional directorate of the ISD.

Mr. Alex stressed that he hates indiscipline and lateness to work and hoped that the already disciplined staff he inherited from his predecessor will continue with their hard work in order to portray the ISD as mouthpiece of government at all times and also as a credible and accurate source of information.

He however, cautioned his staff against meddling in chieftaincy issues in their various districts. He also advised them to work as true civil servants and not go to bed with political parties.

Until his new appointment, Mr. Alex was the PRO to the Northern Regional Minister.

MoGCSP & ISD TRAIN ISD OFFICERS FOR PUBLIC EDUCATION ON SWCES 15th FEBRUARY, 2024

A day’s training workshop for the roll out of a pending nation-wide public education and sensitization campaign on the Single Window Citizens Engagement Service [SWCES], has taken place in Tamale, the Northern Regional capital, this Thursday, February 15, 2024. The training workshop was organized by the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection [MoGCSP] in collaboration with the Information Services Department [ISD]. OVER 10 PROJECT SITES HANDED OVER TO CONTRACTORS IN KWD UNDER SOCO 19th NOV., 2023

A number of sites earmarked for the construction of several projects ranging from market stalls, CHPS compounds, Culverts, mechanized boreholes to a butcher shop and more, have been handed over to contractors for execution across several communities in the Kassena-Nankana West District of the Upper East Region. Kassena-Nankana West District Chief Executive [DCE], Hon.
