Charles Wereku, Chief Director at the Information Ministry - Madam Mameley

retool the ISD with plans far-advanced to procure new audio-visual Vans for the
Department alongside other essential equipment that the ISD requires to deliver
its mandate effectively and promptly. He added that regular in-service training
programmes were being rolled out and that, the staff in the Upper East region
will have their turn in due course.

According to Oppong Nkrumah who is also the Member of Parliament for the Ofoase-Ayirebi constituency in the Eastern Region of Ghana, the effective conduct of public education campaigns on government policies and programmes by the ISD will bring the public up to speed with government’s development strides. Meanwhile, the Department’s timely surveys and collation of reports on public reactions regarding topical daily issues and other interventions by government, will greatly assist government to have a better understanding of feedback from the citizenry and what they actually want from government and other state actors.
He posited that, the nationwide presence of ISD offices and
its staff in every district, “placed the Department in a very strong and unique
position to do excellent Quantitative and Empirical research, surveys and data
collections on any issues of national interest or products for which accurate
public opinion was needed”. He thus urged Management and staff of the ISD to
take a good advantage of this as it would make the ISD a first-choice option
for even bigger multinational bodies and the corporate community whenever the
need for such surveys arises.
Meanwhile, the ISD Ag. Director, Mr. Charles Wereku in his
opening remarks earlier to introduce the minister to his staff, commended
government for placing special attention on the ISD noting that, it drums home
the importance of the ISD in the work of government business regardless of the
proliferation of media outlets in the current times.
Mr. Wereku challenged his staff to continue to deliver their
best efforts at work even under trying conditions.
