DCE CHARGES CONTRACTORS TO SPEED UP WORKS ON SOCO PROJECTS 4th JUNE, 2025
The
Kassena-Nankana West District Chief Executive [DCE], Hon. Stephen Aeke Akurugo
has charged contractors executing works on various SOCO projects across the
district to speed up and meet their project delivery timelines or risk losing
the projects. The DCE threw the charge this Wednesday, June 4, 2025 when he led
a team of technical officers from the Assembly to inspect the progress of
ongoing progress in Paga town, Nania, Kajelo and Kandiga.

Hon. Akurugo also tasked the district’s engineer to keep up with regular monitoring and field visits to the project sites so as to ensure the projects were being done according to specification and with the right quantities and quality of materials.
The DCE and his team first stopped at the Paga new
market project site during which the contractor was molding pavement blocks and
kerbs for the landscaping of the market floor. The team then made a second stop
a slaughter house project situated in the Babile community. Here, the
contractor had completed the placement of terrazzo chippings and next step is
grinding on both floor and the working slabs.
The Nania Junior High School marked the team’s third stop and the contractor working here was done with carpentry works, installation of metal doors and windows and also fixed a new roof for the school block. According to the district works engineer, the contractor is scheduled to hand over the project by the end this June.
Meanwhile, a desilted dam in Kayilo was inspected
and which had begun collecting water. Then in the Navem community, a double
1200mm pipe culvert with approaches was being filled at the time the DCE and
his team arrived at the site, a little after midday. The day’s inspection tour
ended in the Kandiga area where three-number double 900mm diametre and double
1200mm diameter culverts were all completed and awaiting filling works for handing
over to happen in the coming days. .jpeg)

Hon. Akurugo hinted that all was set for the roll out the SOCO phase III cycle of projects and gave the assurance all deserving communities across the district will have their turn to benefit as the project lifespan had not expired yet.
